CHICAGO — Guardians of a disabled adult are suing sheltered care facility Arden Courts of Glen Ellyn, HCR Manorcare Inc. and a nurse, claiming negligence in the care of a resident who allegedly fell at the facility.

Thomas O'Brien and Kevin O'Brien filed a complaint on Aug. 28 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants alleging the disabled adult under their guardianship was a resident at Arden Courts when she suffered a fall on Sept. 10, 2016, and later developed a left hip pressure ulcer that worsened.

She suffered loss of dignity and self-respect, poor quality of life and unnecessary pain and suffering, as a result of the negligence of the defendants in the care, treatment and monitoring of the resident, according to the lawsuit.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment against defendants greater than $50,000, plus attorney's fees and costs. They are represented by Susan L. Novosad and Pamela Dimo of Levin & Perconti in Chicago.
