CHICAGO – A patient alleges a dermatological office and his physicians allegedly failed to recognize he had exposed cranial bone for more than a year after a procedure for skin cancer.
Norman Temple filed a complaint on Sept. 18 in Cook County Circuit Court against Pinski Dermatology and Cosmetic Surgery SC, Hoopeston Community Memorial Hospital, doing business as Carle at Watseka, and others, alleging medical negligence.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Oct. 10, 2016, he underwent a procedure to treat skin cancer on his scalp.
He alleges after the procedure was completed, he was on several rounds of antibiotics to treat methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infections and other complications. The suit states he later learned in 2017 his cranium had been exposed since Oct. 24, 2016.
The suit states the plaintiff was finally referred to another physician who diagnosed osteomyelitis. He alleges he required long-term IV antibiotics and multiple surgeries, including removal of the outer table of the cranium.
The plaintiff says the defendants allegedly failed to recognize the wound was not healing properly and allegedly failed to recognize he had exposed cranial bone for more than a year.
The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount of more than $50,000 plus costs. He is represented by Martin A. Dolan of Dolan Law Offices in Chicago.
