CHICAGO – A Homewood facility is alleged to have failed to have safety devices and guards in place to prevent a resident from falling.

Jeanne Goodman, independent administrator of the estate of Lucille Goodman, filed a complaint on Sept. 19 in Cook County Circuit Court against ManorCare of Homewood, alleging from Jan. 24-Feb. 27, 2017, while a resident at defendant's nursing home, Lucille Goodman suffered a fall, resulting in severe injuries to her leg and hip. The plaintiff alleges Lucille Goodman was identified as a high fall risk and also required staff assistance during transfers and ambulation.

As a result, the suit states Lucille Goodman sustained severe and debilitating injuries that ultimately contributed to her death March 16, 2017.

The plaintiff seeks judgment for damages in an amount greater than $50,000 plus costs. She is represented by Thomas Lake of Dudley & Lake LLC in Libertyville.
