CHICAGO – A patient alleges she was injured during a heart procedure at an Evanston medical facility because of negligence.

Cindy Bormet filed a complaint on Sept. 19 in Cook County Circuit Court against Northshore University Health System, doing business as Evanston Hospital, Northshore Physician Associates Inc., and others, alleging on Sept. 23, 2016, she sustained pain, suffering, permanent physical disability, loss of a normal life, emotional distress and mental anguish as a result of defendants' lack of skill and care in the performance of a left heart catheter. The suit states the defendants perforated the left ventricle free wall of her heart during the procedure.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to use the appropriate size balloon catheter and caused plaintiff to have a cerebrovascular incident.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount of more than $50,000. She is represented by attorney Richard L. Gerber in Highland Park.
