CHICAGO – A long-term care facility is alleged to have failed to prevent a former resident's development of pressure sores.

Shuwanda Holmes, as independent executor of the estate of Doris Hill, filed a complaint on Sept. 27 in Cook County Circuit Court against Warren Barr Living & Rehab Center, Rush University Medical Center, and others, alleging between Dec. 17, 2016, and Jan. 23, 2017, while a resident at the Warren Barr Gold Coast long-term care facility, Hill developed multiple pressure sores. The suit states she died April 1, 2017.

The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they allegedly failed to protect Hill from neglect, failed to turn and reposition her to prevent the development of pressure sores and failed to provide necessary care and services to prevent a decline in Hill's ability to perform daily activities.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment of more than $50,000. She is represented by Michael F. Bonamarte and Jamie A. Koziol of Levin & Perconti in Chicago.
