Woman alleges Rush University Medical Center, others failed to diagnose sister's condition

CHICAGO – An estate administrator alleges that a medical center failed to timely diagnose her sister's medical condition, leading to her sister's death.

Lisa Madray, independent administrator of the estate of Thasha Devi Madray, filed a complaint on Sept. 21 in Cook County Circuit Court against Rush University Medical Center and others,, alleging medical malpractice and wrongful death.

According to the complaint, on Dec 5, 2016, Thasha Madray was diagnosed by the defendants with cirrhosis of the liver after complaining of abdominal bloating. The suit states further tests were done through February and on March 8, 2017,she died at her home.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to timely refer or perform an upper endoscopy, failed to appreciate the severity of her condition, and failed to timely provide her with proper diagnosis, evaluation, care and treatment.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants for an amount of more than $50,000 plus costs of action, and further relief. She is represented by Stephan D. Blandin and Rebecca E. Neubauer of Romanucci & Blandin in Chicago.
