CHICAGO – An attorney-in-fact alleges a nursing facility failed to protect a resident from developing pressure sores.

Anna Wojas, as attorney-in-fact for Jacek Wojas, filed a complaint on Oct. 12 in Cook County Circuit Court against Manorcare Health Services-Palos Heights East and others, alleging negligence and other counts.

According to the complaint, Jacek Wojas was admitted to the defendants' facility on June 23, 2017. The suit states in August 2017, he was transferred to another facility and was admitted there with several pressure sores. The plaintiff alleges Wojas' skin was intact when he was admitted to the defendants' facility.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to protect Wojas from neglect by failing to provide adequate medical and personal care and failed to provide necessary treatment and services to avoid the development of pressure sores and promote healing of existing pressure sores.

The plaintiff seeks judgment of more than $50,000. She is represented by Susan L. Novosad and David M. Bulgarelli of Levin & Perconti in Chicago.
