Aperion Care Forest Park resident alleges ankle was fractured during transport from wheelchair

CHICAGO – A resident of a Forest Park long-term nursing care facility alleges her ankle was fractured while she was being transferred from her wheelchair.

Edna Taylor-Wells filed a complaint on Oct. 22 in Cook County Circuit Court against Aperion Care Forest Park, citing the Nursing Home Care Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff was admitted to the defendant's facility Jan. 10. The suit states on Jan. 22, she was being transferred from her wheelchair by the use of a hydraulic lift and her foot became stuck under the lift and severely bent, which resulted in a fracture to her left ankle.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against defendant for damages of more than $50,000, plus attorney fees and costs. She is represented by Michael J. Eisenberg of Rosenberg, Eisenberg & Associates LLC in Arlington Heights.
