CHICAGO – A former employee of a Franklin Park company alleges he was subjected to a hostile work environment because he was 41 years old.

Robert Anderson filed a complaint on Oct. 23 in Cook County Circuit Court against Jaday Industries Inc. alleging age harassment, age discrimination and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff began employment with the defendant in October 2017 as a basic laborer when he was placed there by a staffing agency. He alleges at the time to his knowledge, he was the only employee that was older than 40. He alleges a manager of the defendant tried to convince him not to take the job, that the warehouse job was "for a kid" and paid him $5 to take public transit home.

The plaintiff holds Jaday Industries Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly subjected plaintiff to age-related harassment and the conduct created a hostile work environment.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant for damages of more than $50,000, permanent injunction, costs of litigation, attorney fees and expert fees and expenses, punitive damages, interest, and further relief. He is represented by Uche 0. Asonye and Renee C. Fell of Asonye & Associates in Chicago.
