CHICAGO – A Bolingbrook nursing home is alleged to have failed to properly treat a former resident's pressure ulcers.
Natoya Grey, administrator of the estate of Lorraine Scott, filed a complaint on Oct. 23 in Cook County Circuit Court against Meadowbrook Nursing & Rehab of Bolingbrook, and others, citing the Illinois Nursing Home Care Act, negligence and wrongful death.
According to the complaint, between June 13-Nov. 2, 2016, Scott was a resident of the defendants' Meadowbrook Manor. The suit states she had a stage two pressure ulcer upon admission and was at risk for the development of pressure-associated skin deterioration. Her ulcer deteriorated to stage four and she developed other sores, the suit states. She died in January 2017.
The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to properly assess and supervise Scott and failed to properly treat her pressure ulcers.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks $50,000, plus costs of suit. She is represented by Christopher G. Cromydas of Hurley McKenna & Mertz P.C. in Chicago.
