CHICAGO – A Chicago facility is alleged to have failed to prevent a former patient from developing pressure sores.
Carmen Felix, independent administrator of the estate of Lydia Gonzalez, filed a complaint on Oct. 31 in Cook County Circuit Court against Community First Healthcare of Illinois Inc., Generations at Regency LLC, and others, alleging negligence and other counts.
According to the complaint, between Oct. 24-Nov. 1, 2016, Gonzalez was a patient of Community First Medical Center for treatment of a fractured hip and was at high risk for the development of pressure sores, malnutrition and dehydration.
The suit states that during her stay at Community First Medical Center, she developed multiple pressure sores and that she received care and treatment for these wounds until her death on July 21, 2017.
The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to provide the necessary services to prevent the development and worsening of pressure sores.
The plaintiff seeks more than $50,000, plus attorney fees and costs. She is represented by Katherine M. Moorhouse of Taxman, Pollock, Murray & Bekkerman in Chicago.
