CHICAGO – A patient of La Grange Medical Center alleges he suffered a stroke after a surgery because he was improperly cleared for the procedure.

Miroslav Vujica and Slavica Vujica filed a complaint on Oct. 29 in Cook County Circuit Court against physician Khan Hasan; La Grange Medical Healthcare and La Grange Medical Center, alleging negligence and loss of consortium.

According to the complaint, on Dec. 21, 2016, Miroslav Vujica was diagnosed with prostate cancer and cleared for surgical treatment. The suit states he underwent surgery in February 2017 and suffered a stroke immediately afterward.

The plaintiffs allege the defendants failed to timely and appropriately order testing prior to clearing the plaintiff for surgery and failed to refer Vujica for correction of a cardiovascular condition prior to clearing him for surgery.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment against defendants for damages of more than $50,000. They are represented by Howard Schaffner of Hofeld and Schaffner in Chicago.
