CHICAGO – A couple is seeking damages from several medical entities over allegations they failed to recognize the signs of a spinal condition.

William Capie and Judy Capie filed a complaint on Nov. 2 in Cook County Circuit Court against Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation, and others, alleging medical negligence.

According to the complaint, on Nov. 25, 2016, William Capie was a patient at defendants' facility when his complaints were allegedly misdiagnosed and the defendants allegedly failed to recognize the signs and symptoms of the condition known as transverse myelitis.

As a result, the suit states William Capie sustained damage to his nervous system, vision and other parts of his body that hindered from attending to his normal duties. Judy Capie alleges she lost the support of her husband.

The plaintiffs seek judgment of more than $50,000 and costs of suit. They are represented by Emilio E. Machado of Rubin, Machad & Rosenbaum LTD in Chicago.
