CHICAGO – A long-term nursing care facility in Chicago is alleged to have failed to prevent a former resident from developing pressure sores.

Danice Brown, as independent administrator of the estate of Mary Douglas, filed a complaint on Oct. 31 in Cook County Circuit Court against Aperion Care International, alleging negligence and wrongful death.

According to the complaint, on May 7, 2014, Douglas was admitted to Aperion for nursing home and rehabilitative services and was at high risk for the development and worsening of pressure ulcers. The plaintiff alleges that Douglas developed pressure ulcers while in the defendant's care.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensation of more than $50,000. She is represented by Marc S. Weissman of The Law Offices of Steven J. Malman & Associates, PC in Chicago.
