CHICAGO – A Cook County widow alleges that an attorney failed to properly convey a property to her as instructed by her late husband.

Marie Golden filed a complaint on Nov. 2 in Cook County Circuit Court against Wayne L. Johnson and Johnson & Johnson LTD alleging legal malpractice.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff's husband, Walter R. Golden Sr., retained Johnson in 2013 to ensure that a simple fee interest in a Dolton property would pass to the plaintiff in the event of his death.

The suit states Golden Sr. died in June 2016 and the plaintiff attempted to sell the Dolton property in March 2017 when she discovered for the first time that there was a problem with the title. The suit alleges the title issue stems from the documents prepared by Johnson, which she alleged failed to properly convey the property to her.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendants in an amount in excess of the jurisdictional minimum. She is represented by John K. Kennedy and Daniel Wakins II of Kennedy Watkins LLC in Chicago.
