CHICAGO – A Chicago long-term care facility is alleged to have failed to provide the necessary care and treatment to a former resident to prevent the development of sores.

Bessie Wade, independent administrator of the estate of Christine McDaniel, filed a complaint on Nov. 7 in Cook County Circuit Court against Warren Barr South Loop, et al. alleging negligence and other counts.

According to the complaint, McDaniel was a resident of Warren Barr South Loop from 2016 until her death and the defendant knew or should have known she was at high risk for developing pressure sores. The plaintiff alleges McDaniel developed pressure sores that became infected during her residency at the defendant's facility and required constant care and treatment of them until her death on March 4.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against defendant for damages of more than $50,000, plus attorney fees and costs. She is represented by Michael F. Bonamarte and Gabriel Aprati of Levin & Perconti in Chicago.
