CHICAGO – A Park Ridge resident alleges a Morton Grove law firm failed to get a reasonable settlement in her divorce case.

Susan L. Engel filed a complaint on Nov. 6 in Cook County Circuit Court against Carl N. Graf Jr. and Carl N. Graf Jr. & Associates, alleging legal malpractice.

According to the complaint, in 2016, Engel retained the defendants to represent her during her divorce sought by her husband of 28 years.

The plaintiff alleges during the course of the divorce case, the defendants allegedly did little to enforce compliance with outstanding discovery requests and made rudimentary demands for settlement without having full financial information of plaintiff's then-spouse. Furthermore, she alleges she was induced by the defendants to agree to marital settlement agreement of $4,500 per month.

The plaintiff seeks judgment of as much money as a jury may award, plus costs of suit and other relief. She is represented by Thomas W. Gooch III of The Gooch Firm in Wauconda.
