CHICAGO – A Chicago man is seeking damages from physicians and medical entities over allegations he sustained organ damage because of their care.
Peter Seaverns filed a complaint on Nov. 13 in Cook County Circuit Court against physicians Daniel Wool and Ritu Piplani; Barrington Surgeons LTD.; and others, alleging medical negligence.
According to the complaint, between Oct. 29, 2016, and Feb. 24, 2017, Seaverns was under the care of the defendants for treatment of a colon perforation.
As a result of the defendants' post-surgical care, he alleges he sustained permanent organ damage from extended exposure to an infectious disease that required multiple abdominal surgeries.
The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to follow plaintiff's post-surgical course for signs and symptoms of infection.
The plaintiff seeks judgment in an amount of more than $50,000, plus attorney fees and costs. He is represented by David A. Axelrod, Jason M. Kleinman and Matthew R. Axelrod of David A. Axelrod & Associates PC in Chicago.
