CHICAGO – The daughter of a former Evergreen Park long-term nursing care facility resident alleges the facility failed to protect her late mother from developing sores.

Angela Hooper-Dixon, as independent administrator of the estate of Yvonne Altman, filed a complaint on Nov. 14 in Cook County Circuit Court against The Villa at Evergreen Park, and others, alleging wrongful death and other counts.

According to the complaint, Altman was admitted to the defendants' facility in April 2017 and the defendants knew or should have known she was at high risk for the development of pressure sores. The suit states that while residing there, Altman developed multiple pressure ulcers that deteriorated in condition.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to oversee the comprehensive assessment of Altman's needs and health condition, failed to implement an up-to-date resident care plan, and failed to timely investigate the cause of decedent's worsening condition.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendants for compensation of more than $50,000, and attorney fees. She is represented by David M. Resis and Annabelle L. Borota of The Law Offices of Yvonnen J. Malman in Chicago.
