Clark Hill's Scott Cruz has been named to Crain's Chicago's Notable Minority Lawyers for 2018. The honor is extended to those leading the legal profession, in Illinois and beyond. The listed attorneys, through their practices and pro bono work, are advancing the causes of justice and equality and are mentoring a diverse generation of lawyers to join them on this path. Scott Cruz, Senior Counsel, represents both public- and private-sector employers in all aspects of labor and employment law, including civil litigation and preventive counseling. In the past two years, he has won summary judgment on a sensitive whistleblower case; avoided wage-and-hour violations for a local construction company, defeating the claim on a motion to dismiss; counseled clients to avoid or reduce liability on several personnel-related matters; negotiated a favorable reduction in a client’s restrictive covenant obligations following an employer’s threatened lawsuit; and assisted clients in defeating unemployment benefits claims before the Illinois Department of Employment Security. He is member of the Illinois Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the Chicago Latino Network and serves on the the board of directors of Alivio Medical Center.
