245

Benesch, Friedlander, Coplan & Aronoff LLP issued the following announcement on Nov. 19.

As fast-growing Benesch continues to recruit top-notch legal talent, the firm is pleased to announce that a trio of attorneys—Di Fu, Kathryn Clausing, and Christopher J. Letkewicz—have joined the firm’s Chicago office.

“We are excited to have these three outstanding attorneys joining Benesch,” said Gregg Eisenberg, the firm’s Managing Partner. “We are committed to growing to meet the needs of our clients. Di, Katie, and Chris are all attorneys who, from day one, can help us deliver legal services that are of strategic importance to our clients: advising them on international tax matters, complex commercial litigation and other key matters.”

Fu and Clausing join the firm as associates and Letkewicz joins the firm as Of Counsel. Their move to Benesch reflects continued momentum for the firm, which has been growing aggressively through lateral hires as part of a strategic plan launched by Eisenberg in 2015.

In all, 60 attorneys have joined the firm in the last 18 months, which has also seen the opening of a Chicago office and the expansion of practices including class action litigation, intellectual property litigation and labor and employment. Since making its debut on the AmLaw 200 list in 2017, the firm has advanced 15 placed and is currently ranked at number 180.

Fu is an associate in Benesch’s International Private Client Group. Her primary focus is working with the firm’s international clients on U.S. tax planning matters. With a background in the areas of business transactions, taxation, and immigration, she provides high level support to our international clients’ overall legal needs and guides them as they navigate through the US legal system. Fu is a native Mandarin speaker.

She graduated from Chicago-Kent College of Law in 2014 and graduated cum laude from Ohio State University in 2011.

Clausing joins the firm as an associate in the Litigation Practice Group based in the firm’s Chicago office. She focuses her practice on complex commercial litigation matters in federal and state courts across the country. She is a skilled litigator representing institutional and individual clients in a wide range of disputes, including defamation, products liability, breach of contract, and fraud, as well as in internal investigations. Additionally, Clausing has experience drafting a wide variety of briefs, motions, and trial materials, including discovery motions, motions to dismiss, pre-trial motions, and high-stakes trial motions.

She graduated from the University of Chicago Law School in 2016, and graduated summa cum laude from the University of Illinois-Urbana-Champaign in 2013.

Letkewicz joins the firm as Of Counsel in the Litigation Practice Group and represents a broad range of clients in high stakes healthcare and complex commercial matters in federal and state courts. He has an extensive track record of obtaining dismissals, summary judgment, appellate court affirmances of favorable trial court judgments and favorable settlements for clients.

In the past, he has represented a Fortune 100 technology company against a breach of contract claim seeking nine-figure damages. Letkewicz helped the client obtain a favorable resolution on the eve of trial after successfully barring opposing party’s expert witness and obtaining key admissions from opponent’s witnesses in depositions.

He graduated summa cum laude from DePaul University College of Law in 2009 and graduated summa cum laude from the University of Notre Dame in 2004.
