Son files wrongful death suit against Assisi Health Care Center at Clare Oaks over dehydration claims

CHICAGO – The son of a former resident of a Bartlett long-term care facility alleges his mother died of dehydration while under its care.

Scott Tazbier, as independent administrator of the estate of Ann E. Tazbier, filed a complaint on Nov. 13 in Cook County Circuit Court against Assisi Health Care Center at Clare Oaks, and a nurse, alleging negligence, wrongful death and other counts.

According to the complaint, from Nov. 11, 2016, until her death on Dec. 20, 2016, Ann Tazbier was a resident at the Clare Oaks facility. The plaintiff alleges while she resided there, she suffered from dehydration and malnutrition. He alleges one of the causes of death listed on her death certificate was dehydration.

The plaintiff seeks damages of more than $50,000, plus attorney fees and costs. He is represented by Nicole T. Schroeder of Angelini Ori & Abate LLC in Chicago.
