Clark Hill PLC issued the following announcement on Nov. 27.
Clark Hill PLC announced the addition of John G. Fogarty, Jr. to the firm as Senior Counsel in its Chicago office, where he is a member of the Government and Public Affairs Practice Group. He joins the firm from his private practice, which was among the most active election law and government affairs practices statewide.
“John brings our group significant Illinois campaign finance and ethics law experience as well as strong connections to elected officials, candidates and the political infrastructure of Illinois,” said Charles R. Spies, Co-Leader of Clark Hill's Government and Public Affairs Practice. “His ‘inside politics’ knowledge will be of significant benefit to Clark Hill’s clients.”
A graduate of Northwestern University and Chicago Kent College of Law, Fogarty represents candidates, office holders, political committees, individuals, corporations and nonprofits in all aspects of the electoral and legislative processes, including ballot access, campaign finance and disclosure, lobbying and government affairs, media issues and party governance. In addition to currently serving for the past six years as General Counsel to the Illinois Republican Party and to the Illinois Association of Republican County Chairmen, Fogarty represents candidates and political committees throughout the state in administrative matters as well as in state and federal courts. He also represents clients in a lobbying capacity in diverse areas including agriculture, energy, healthcare, insurance, gaming, municipal issues, telecommunications and transportation.
“Clark Hill’s nationally recognized Political Law team provides an exceptional platform and a highly collaborative environment to support my practice,” said Fogarty. “The firm’s Washington, D.C. office and public affairs and lobbying practice, with noted attorneys on both sides of the aisle, is a powerful asset for companies around the globe doing any kind of business before Congress or the federal government. Having this ‘must-have’ capability in Washington available to clients is a huge plus.”
Clark Hill’s bipartisan Government and Public Affairs Practice Group provides detailed legislative, policy, and regulatory insights and representation on issues directly affecting clients in the context of statewide, national and global geopolitical and market forces.
“This is a complicated time in governmental relations and political representation and John’s knowledge, skills and experience will be in great demand,” said Ray J. Koenig, III, Member-in-Charge of the Chicago office. “We’re pleased to have him on board.”
