Lawyer

Mayer Brown issued the following announcement on Nov. 29.

Mayer Brown announced  it has appointed Britt Miller as the partner-in-charge of its Chicago office and Matthew Ingber as the partner-in-charge of its New York office.

Ms. Miller succeeds Rebecca Eisner, who has led the Chicago office since 2015. Ms. Eisner continues in a leadership role on the firm’s global Management Committee, a role she assumed in June of this year. Mr. Ingber succeeds Richard Spehr, who has led the New York office since 2009. Mr. Spehr is assuming the position of leader of the firm’s global Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice.

“Britt and Matt represent a new generation of leadership in two of our largest offices. Both are leaders in their respective fields, and both have the talent and vision to continue to drive our culture of global excellence and collaboration, supporting our clients in a seamless and integrated way across practices and regions,” said Mayer Brown Chairman Paul Theiss. “Hailing from the same associate class in 1998, Britt and Matt have deep roots in Mayer Brown and extensive knowledge of their respective markets. They will play a significant role in continuing our firm’s growth in New York and Chicago.”

Ms. Miller, a co-leader of the firm’s global Antitrust & Competition practice, focuses her practice on representing domestic and international corporations in price-fixing, market allocation, monopolization and conspiracy cases. She has served as lead or co-lead counsel in more than a dozen large antitrust class actions. Additionally, Ms. Miller previously served as a co-leader of the firm’s Chicago Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice.

“Our Chicago office has transformed over the last three years to closely align with our firm strategy. We’ve successfully built out our global platform through promotions and lateral hiring, renovated our offices to better support the needs of our clients, lawyers and staff, and strengthened our connection to clients in Chicago and the rest of the world,” said Ms. Miller. “We have terrific momentum and I intend to play my part in helping us to continue that momentum by leveraging the strengths of our market-leading Chicago office and enhancing our brand of global excellence for the clients we serve in all of our markets.”

Mr. Ingber is a trial lawyer representing financial institutions, technology companies and other major corporations in a variety of litigation matters, with cases ranging from complex commercial disputes to securities fraud and shareholder derivative actions and cutting-edge intellectual property matters. He previously served as a co-leader of the firm’s global Banking & Finance Litigation practice and is stepping down as a co-leader of the firm’s global Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice in order to assume his new role. Mr. Ingber currently serves as chair of the New York office’s Pro Bono Committee.

“As Rich’s colleague, I have seen firsthand what it takes to be a successful leader,” said Mr. Ingber. “Mayer Brown’s New York office has experienced impressive growth during Rich’s tenure, with more diverse practice offerings, a significantly expanded corporate practice and a relocation of our office space. I look forward to working with our growing team of premier lawyers, continuing to enhance our cross-practice and cross-office collaboration with our global clients, and maintaining the momentum that all of our lawyers and staff in New York have helped to build.”
