Northwest Community Hospital patient alleges injuries during surgery on spine

CHICAGO – A patient of an Arlington Heights hospital alleges he was injured during a spinal surgery.

Frank Borkowski filed a complaint on Nov. 26 in Cook County Circuit Court against Northwest Community Hospital, Northwest Neurosurgery Institute LLC and physician Mina Foroohar, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, on Nov. 30, 2016, Borkowski sought treatment of for a degenerative lumbar disk disease and spinal stenosis. He alleges he was injured during the surgery and developed neurological symptoms, including pain, weakness and mobility impairments.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants improperly performed surgery causing a tear in the dura mater during the surgery.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment in such amount in excess of the court's jurisdictional requirements. He is represented by Michael F. Sullivan of Sukhman & Yagoda in Chicago.
