CHICAGO – A Cook County man is seeking damages from a Berwyn hospital over the care he received there.

Pedro Urbina filed a complaint on Nov. 26 in Cook County Circuit Court against MacNeal Hospital, and others, alleging medical negligence.

According to the complaint, between Nov. 24-Dec. 12, 2016, Urbina was a patient and received medical care and treatment at MacNeal Hospital. He alleges while he was at the hospital, he developed ulcerative skin breakdown, which required surgical care. He also alleges he developed weak or foot drop type syndrome.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to recognize the signs of ulcers, failed to treat the ulcers and failed to use measures to prevent skin pressure ulcers.

The plaintiff seeks judgment in an amount in excess of the jurisdictional limits of the court, including attorney fees, costs and other relief. He is represented by James E. Thompson of Gottreich Grace & Thompson in Chicago.
