CHICAGO – A man alleges he sustained permanent injuries as a result of his condition not being diagnosed in a timely manner.

Kashif Riaz filed a complaint on Dec. 4 in Cook County Circuit Court against Northwestern Memorial Hospital; Northwestern Medical Group; and physicians George R. Cybulski, John Bailitz and Robert Turelli, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, on Jan. 18, 2017, the plaintiff went to defendants' emergency department for complaints of back pain, numbness and incontinence and was admitted. The suit states a procedure was done and he was discharged Jan. 23, 2017.

The suit states he returned to the emergency department several more times in 2017 with similar complaints and that the defendants failed to diagnose a spinal compression.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendants for a sum in excess of jurisdictional limit, with costs and interest. He is represented by Stephanie K. Nathanson and Michael T. Peterson of Law Offices of Stephanie K. Nathanson in Chicago.
