CHICAGO – A patient alleges she needed an additional surgery because of the negligence of a Chicago hospital and physicians in performing a reconstructive surgery after a mastectomy.

Maria J. Ramos filed a complaint on Dec. 5 in Cook County Circuit Court against Northwestern Memorial Hospital, and physicians John Y.S. Kim and Sergey Turin alleging medical malpractice.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges she was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent a mastectomy. She underwent reconstructive surgery several months later at Northwestern Memorial.

The suit states an implant rotated and she needed another surgery in May to correct the issue.

The plaintiff alleges Northwestern Memorial failed to employ medical practitioners with adequate skills to perform proper surgery, care and treatment and Kim and Turin allegedly breached the standard of care.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against defendants in an amount in excess of the jurisdictional limits and additional relief. She is represented by Ehsan Eftekhari of Eftekhari Law Offices in Evanston.
