CHICAGO – A woman has filed a wrongful death suit against a medical facility over a woman's 2016 death.

Loretta Miller, as special administrator of the estate of Cora Johnson, filed a complaint on Dec. 1 in Cook County Circuit Court against Symphony Jackson Square LLC, Jackson Square Skilled Nursing & Living Center and Symphony Chicago West alleging wrongful death.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges on March 24, 2016, Johnson was brought to defendant's nursing home for monitoring. However, on Sept. 19, 2016, the decedent died after being diagnosed with hypothermia while under the defendants' care.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to properly monitor Johnson's vital signs and mental status, failed to properly reassess her, and failed to notify her physician about changes in her condition.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against defendants of more than $50,000 plus costs of suit. She is represented by Christopher G. Cromydas of Hurley, McKenna & Mertz PC in Chicago.
