Patient alleges Blue Island hospital, doctors failed to prevent hemorrhage during birth

CHICAGO – A patient of a Blue Island hospital alleges the facility and two physicians failed to take the proper steps to prevent post-partum hemorrhage.

Irma Herrera filed a complaint on Dec. 7 in Cook County Circuit Court against phyisicians Ketan Jobanputra and David Vallejo; Access Community Health Network; Blue Island Hospital Co. LLC; and QHCCS LLC alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff delivered her child while under the care of the defendants on Dec. 10, 2016. She alleges during labor and delivery, she suffered post-partum hemorrhage, shock, kidney failure and other complications. As a result, the suit states the plaintiff underwent other procedures. 

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to properly evaluate, diagnose and treat her and failed to take proper measures to prevent and control the hemorrhage.

The plaintiff seeks judgment in an amount in excess of the jurisdictional minimum of the law division of the court. She is represented by Craig L. Manchik and Lynne Plum Duffey of Craig L. Manchik & Associates PC in Chicago.
