CHICAGO – A minor alleges a hospital's emergency room failed to adequately treat his bowel obstruction.

The minor male filed a complaint on Dec. 14 in Cook County Circuit Court against Dr. Michael O'Mara MD, Little Co. of Mary Hospital and Evergreen Emergency Services LTD et al. alleging medical negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges on Aug. 23, 2014, he went to the defendants for complaints of nausea, vomiting and stomach pain. The suit states he was released to the emergency room with a prescription the same day.

The suit states the following day, the plaintiff went to another hospital where a physician discovered a strangulated hernia.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to perform a proper and complete evaluation and failed to seek additional testing to determine the exact nature of plaintiff's pain and discomfort.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendants of more than $50,000. He is represented by Larry R. Rogers Jr. of Power Rogers & Smith LLP in Chicago.
