CHICAGO – The daughter of a former resident of a Lombard care facility alleges the facility failed to keep her mother from developing pressure sores.

Sharon Freeman, as independent administrator for the estate of Leola Haggans, filed a complaint on Dec. 18 in Cook County Circuit Court against Lexington Health Care Center of Lombard Inc., alleging wrongful death and other counts.

According to the complaint, on Feb. 27, 2015, Haggans was admitted to defendants' nursing home and rehabilitative services and was known to be at high risk for pressure ulcers. The plaintiff alleges Haggans developed pressure sores while under the defendants' care, which caused deterioration in her condition before her death in February.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment of more than $50,000. She is represented by Kelly Sabo Gaden of The Law Offices of Steven J. Malman & Associates PC in Chicago.
