CHICAGO – A widow has filed a wrongful death suit against the owner of a semi-trailer after her husband was fatally injured by the trailer when it allegedly malfunctioned.

Desiree Sharif, as special administrator of the estate of Omar Sharif, filed a complaint on Dec. 18 in Cook County Circuit Court against G & B International Inc. and G & B International Logistics Inc. alleging wrongful death and negligence.

According to the complaint, on Oct. 10, Omar Sharif transported defendants' semi-trailer to a loading dock at O'Hare International Airport when the semi-trailer's system malfunctioned, causing it to lower on top of him.

As a result, Sharif suffered fatal injuries, the suit states.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to inspect the semi-trailer to repair the automated system and allowed Sharif to use the semi-trailer knowing it had malfunctioning equipment.

The plaintiff seeks judgment of more than $50,000 and costs of suit. She is represented by Toby P. Mulholland of Rubens Kress & Mulholland in Chicago.
