CHICAGO – A woman has filed a wrongful death suit against several medical entities over care her daughter received before her death in 2017.

Mary Mosley, as independent administrator of the estate of Shenetra Watkins, filed a complaint on Dec. 28 in Cook County Circuit Court against Presence Resurrection Medical Center, and others, alleging negligence and wrongful death.

According to the complaint, Watkins was under the care of Presence Resurrection Medical Center from Dec. 31, 2016, to Jan. 8, 2017, when she died. The suit states Watkins was being monitored and treated after suffering a stroke.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to prevent the development of deep vein thrombosis and/or pulmonary embolism.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendants in an amount to satisfy the jurisdictional limitation of the court and costs of suit. She is represented by Peter Vlantis of Vlantis Law LLC in Chicago.
