CHICAGO – A Chicago hospital allegedly failed to prevent a patient from falling out of her bed.

Maria Peterson, as temporary guardian of the person and estate of Mary Peterson, filed a complaint on Jan. 2 in Cook County Circuit Court against Mount Sinai Hospital Medical Center of Chicago alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, on Jan. 14, 2017, Mary Peterson went to the hospital as an inpatient. The suit states she fell out of her bed the next day and sustained a fractured hip.

The plaintiff alleges the defendant failed to use bed rails, failed to use a Posey vest and failed to recognize Peterson was a fall risk and take adequate fall preventions or precautions.

The plaintiff seeks judgment of more than $50,000. She is represented by Gregory L. Lamorena of Karlin, Fleisher & Falkenberg LLC in Chicago.
