CHICAGO – A Chicago woman alleges she is still being billed for electrical service to a property she no longer owns.
Sarah M. Tucker filed a complaint on Jan. 2 in Cook County Circuit Court against ComEd, and Greenspire 1028 Austin LLC alleging breach of contract and other counts.
According to the complaint, on April 21, 2017, Tucker sold a property to Greenspire and gave her first notice of the sale of the property to ComEd. She alleges a ComEd representative told her the account in her name for electrical service at the property would be canceled after she faxed a copy of the closing statement, which she sent.
The plaintiff alleges ComEd has continuously billed her and she has suffered financially because of the incorrect billing.
The plaintiff alleges ComEd negligently and deliberately continued to bill her for services to the property despite being notified that she no longer owned the subject property, and Greenspire allegedly failed to transfer electric services in its name.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks more than $100,000, plus attorney fees, costs, interest and all additional relief the court deems necessary and proper. She is represented by attorney Rose E. Joshua, in Chicago.
