Wrongful death suit says Avantara Park Ridge responsible for woman's fall, death

By Bree Gonzales | Jan 10, 2019

CHICAGO – A family member of a former resident of a Park Ridge facility alleges injuries the resident sustained in a fall contributed to her death.

Edward Scatchell, as independent administrator to the estate of Sandra Scatchell, filed a complaint on Jan. 2 in Cook County Circuit Court against Avantara Park Ridge LLC alleging negligence, wrongful death and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges on Feb. 7, 2017, Sandra Scatchell was a resident of the defendant's facility when she fell and sustained injuries. The suit states injuries from the fall caused the deterioration of her physical and mental condition, which contributed to her death in May 2017.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks more than $50,000. He is represented by Lindsay J. Scheidt of Taxman, Pollock, Murray & Bekkerman LLC in Chicago.
