CHICAGO – A patient alleges he suffered injury after a surgery because he was not warned to avoid bearing weight on his lower right extremity.

Leslie Frick filed a complaint on Jan. 2 in Cook County Circuit Court against Advocate Lutheran General Hospital; Illinois Bone & Joint Institute LLC; and physician Matthew Jimenez, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges in June 2012, he underwent surgery to repair his pelvis at Lutheran General and was discharged four days later. He alleges the defendants failed to order strict nonweight bearing to the lower right extremity to protect the surgical reconstruction and allowed him to be weight bearing on his lower right extremity.

He alleges an X-ray two weeks later informed him of his new injury.

The plaintiff seeks a sum of more than $50,000 plus costs of suit. He is represented by William P. McGowen of McGowen & McGowen PC in Wheaton.
