Woman alleges broken ankle from slip-and-fall on ice, snow at Chicago shopping center

CHICAGO – A woman alleges she broke her ankle in a fall at a Chicago shopping mall because of snow and ice in the lot.

Pauline Owens filed a complaint on Jan. 8 in Cook County Circuit Court against Semmer Landscape LLC, and others, alleging negligence and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges on April 4, 2018, she fell because of ice and snow accumulation at the Lake Meadows Shopping Center at 3405 S. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Dr., in Chicago. She alleges the fall caused a fracture of her talus bone in her left ankle and a sprained right wrist.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants carelessly and negligently maintained the lot.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against defendant for compensatory damages of $50,000, plus expenses, costs of action and other relief. She is represented by attorney Joseph Younes in Chicago.
