CHICAGO — A  woman is suing Fresenius Medical Care North America; WSKC Dialysis Services Inc.; a nurse, and others, citing alleged wrongful death and violation of the Illinois Survival Act.

Bridget Torres filed a complaint on Jan. 22 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants, alleging they were careless and negligent in the medical services rendered to Maria I. Rivera.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges in January 2017, Rivera was an in-patient of the defendants, but was neglected when they failed to diagnose and treat a graf/catheter infection from dialysis and other inadequate implementation of processes in terms of diagnosis, treatment and discharge that resulted in injuries, pain and suffering up until the time of her death shortly after.

The plaintiff seeks more than $50,000 and costs of suit. She is represented by Emilio Machado of Rubin Machado & Rosenblum Ltd. in Chicago.

Cook County Circuit Court Case No. 2019L000789.
