Avis and Budget sue city, alleged drivers of stolen car after vehicle crashed in incident with police

CHICAGO — A car rental company is suing two individuals and the city of Chicago, to recover for damages caused in a police incident involving a vehicle stolen from the rental lot at O'Hare International Airport.

Avis Rent A Car System LLC and Budget Rent A Car System LLC filed a complaint against Terrell C. Price, Edward Moser and the city on Jan. 14 in Cook County Circuit Court.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege on Sept. 7, 2016, a 2016 Ford Mustang and two other vehicles were stolen off their Chicago O'Hare Airport lot at 10000 Bessie Coleman Drive. On Sept. 10, 2016, the 2016 Ford Mustang while allegedly driven by Price was involved in a multiple-vehicle accident involving two police squad cars and four police officers in the 5800 block of S. Ashland Ave. in Chicago.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek declaratory and injunctive relief. They are represented by Esther Joy Schwartz of Schwartz Gilligan Ltd. in Chicago.
