Locke Lord LLP issued the following announcement on Feb. 6.
Steve Whitmer, a member of Locke Lord’s Executive Committee and Chair of the Firm’s Chicago Litigation Department, has been selected as a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America (LCA).
The LCA is a trial lawyer honorary society composed of less than one-half of 1 percent of American lawyers. Fellows are selected and invited into Fellowship after being evaluated for effectiveness and accomplishment in litigation and trial work, along with ethical reputation. In addition to Whitmer, four other Locke Lord lawyers hold the distinction of being a Fellow in the society, including Firm Chair Emeritus Jerry Clements and Locke Lord Partners Thomas Cunningham, Richard Glovsky and Elizabeth Mack.
Whitmer’s practice is focused on complex commercial litigation and arbitration matters. He litigates all types of commercial disputes, including breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, false advertising, fraud and unfair business practices. Whitmer has represented clients at all levels of federal and state courts throughout the country, arbitrations, mediations and regulatory proceedings. His clients include insurers, reinsurers and state insurance guaranty funds.
