CHICAGO — A man is suing Briar Place Nursing and Rehabilitation, citing an alleged violation of the Nursing Home Care Act.

James McFedries filed a complaint on Feb. 7 in Cook County Circuit Court against Briar Place, alleging the nursing facility failed to protect him from skin breakdown and properly treat pressure ulcers.

According to the complaint, beginning in June 2017, plaintiff was a resident of Briar Place. He claims he did not have any pressure wounds on his heels upon admission but was subject to and at risk for skin breakdown. He alleges he suffered from wounds due to defendant's failure to protect him from such.

The plaintiff seeks more than $50,000 plus attorney's fees and costs. He is represented by Matthew Baker of Brustin & Lundblad Ltd. in Chicago.

Cook County Circuit Court Case No. 2019L001363.
