CHICAGO — A nursing home resident's guardian is suing Lexington Health Care Center of Chicago Ridge Inc.,  citing alleged common law negligence and violation of the Nursing Home Care Act.

Hamide Elmazi filed a complaint on Feb. 21 in Cook County Circuit Court against Lexington Health Care Center of Chicago Ridge Inc., Sambell of Chicago Ridge Inc., and Royal Management Corp.

According to the complaint, resident Palma Elmazi broke her leg in a fall in March 2017 and suffered a head injury when she allegedly suffered another fall in February 2018 while at the facility. The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to appropriately transfer Elmazi with the assistance of two individuals as required by the care plan.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and more than $50,000. Hamide Elmazi is represented by Jaime Kozial and Jillian Babineaux of Levin & Perconti in Chicago.

Cook County Circuit Court Case No. 2019L001954.
