CHICAGO — A woman is suing St. Bernard Hospital and physicians, citing alleged medical malpractice and wrongful death.

Dorothy Jones, as special administrator for the estate of Doris Banks, filed a complaint on Feb. 19 in Cook County Circuit Court against the hospital; Fresenius Care Manufacturing Inc.; Fresenius Kidney Care; Fresenius Medical Care; and physicians Ashutosh Gupta and Raj Khurana, alleging the defendants breached their duty to provide care and services under to prevent injury.

According to the complaint, Banks was admitted to defendants' facility in February 2017 for dizziness. Plaintiff claims defendants' administrators neglected the patient by not documenting her hypertension which led to a delay in treatment.

Banks suffered cardiac arrest a few days later.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment for a sum in excess of the jurisdictional limits, plus costs. She is represented by Naderth Elrabadi of Chicago.

Cook County Circuit Court Case No. 19-L-001755.
