CHICAGO — A nursing home resident's representative is suing Wentworth Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, citing an alleged violation of the Illinois Nursing Home Care Act.

Barbara Garbutt filed a complaint on Feb. 19 in Cook County Circuit Court against Wentworth and affiliated entitites, alleging they did not take reasonable steps to see that appropriate medical attention was given to Oliver McDore, nor were preventive measures administered to prevent deterioration of his health.

According to the complaint, between November 2016 and January 2018, while a resident of the nursing home, Oliver McDore developed pressure ulcers, infections, severe weight loss and recurrent pneumonia.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and more than $50,000, plus attorney's fees and costs, and other relief. She is represented by The Clinesmith Firm.

Cook County Circuit Court Case No. 2019L001760.
