Vedder Price is pleased to announce that Jay Novatney has joined Vedder Price as an Investment Services Shareholder in the Chicago office. Mr. Novatney joins Vedder Price after managing the legal, compliance and operations functions at two investment advisory firms over the last 13 years, most recently as Chief Operating Officer at PT Asset Management, LLC (PTAM) and previously as General Counsel & Chief Compliance Officer at Chicago Fundamental Investment Partners, LLC (CFIP).
Mr. Novatney handles all aspects of private fund product structuring and operation as well as Advisers Act and Commodity Exchange Act compliance. He focuses his practice on investment advisers and asset management firms and unregistered vehicles such as hedge funds, hedge fund of funds, private equity and other investment entities. Mr. Novatney has a wealth of experience across investment types and in complex structured products and financing transactions, including collateralized loan obligations and derivative instruments.

Prior to PTAM and CFIP, Mr. Novatney worked at Citadel Investment Group, LLC from 2001-2005 as a credit investment analyst. He started his career in 1996 as a corporate associate with Latham & Watkins LLP.
Mr. Novatney earned his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law and his undergraduate degree in engineering sciences from Harvard University, magna cum laude. He is a CFA® charterholder.
