McGuireWoods LLP issued the following announcement on April 9.
Julie Letwat has joined McGuireWoods in its Chicago office, adding more than two decades of regulatory and policy experience in the healthcare and life sciences industries to the firm’s nationally recognized healthcare practice.
In a career including senior corporate counsel roles and service as the American Medical Association’s health policy director, Letwat has guided companies on regulatory and compliance issues in all healthcare sectors. She is a highly regarded adviser to companies on topics including negotiation, communications strategy, market analysis, government advocacy and business strategy.
Letwat joins McGuireWoods as counsel from Faegre Baker Daniels. Before that, she was general counsel and vice president at Fagron, a leading global pharmaceutical wholesaling and compounding firm. She is a former registered lobbyist who led government affairs for two major pharmacy companies.
“Julie’s impressive skills broaden our services and add even more value for our clients,” said Chicago partner Amber McGraw Walsh, chair of McGuireWoods’ Healthcare Department. “She is an outstanding addition to our firm.”
Letwat joins a practice that earned nationwide rankings from Chambers USA and The Legal 500 United States for helping clients navigate regulatory, litigation, transactional and privacy matters in the U.S. and abroad. For 16 years, McGuireWoods has hosted the premier healthcare-focused private equity, lending and finance conference that brings providers and investors together in Chicago to explore strategies for closing deals and achieving growth. It also publishes the widely read blog, The Healthcare Investor.
“Julie is highly respected in Chicago for her work in the healthcare industry and we are fortunate to have her join us,” said Christina Egan, the firm’s Chicago office managing partner.
