Jones Day issued the following announcement on June 26.
On June 11, Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg introduced Judge Ann Claire Williams (Ret.), now of counsel in Jones Day's Chicago Office, as "a world celebrated jurist and my treasured friend," at the annual Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg Distinguished Lecture on Women and the Law, hosted by the New York City Bar Association. This annual event, created in 2000, honors Justice Ginsburg's contributions to the advancement of women's rights and her achievements as a lawyer, law professor, and judge.
Judge Williams shared the stories of groundbreaking women judges and lawyers from the United States and Africa who lived their lives in pursuit of equal justice. She spoke of five core values critical to ensuring equal justice: dream big, work hard, never give up, stand up, and give back. At the end of the evening, Judge Williams and Justice Ginsburg closed out the evening by taking questions from the audience.
