CHICAGO — A former office manager for Window Concepts claims that one of her former supervisors falsely told a prospective employer that she had committed embezzlement, forgery and served time in prison.

According to an Oct. 17 Cook County Circuit Court filing, plaintiff Maria Cosentino filed suit against Window Concepts Inc. and her former supervisor Bob Domek, alleging interference with a prospective business relationship and defamation. In her suit, Cosentino claims she was fired from Window Concepts, allegedly for no reason. Later, when she attempted to apply for another job, she learned her former employer had falsely accused her of wrongdoing, causing the other prospective employer to not hire her. She said this caused her to experience "humiliation and damage to her reputation," the complaint states.

The complaint said her former supervisor "made these false comments both individually and on behalf of Window Concepts and at the time that he made these comments, he knew that these statements were false."

Cosentino seeks compensatory damages of at least $50,000 as well as punitive damages. She is represented by attorney Joel Handler, of Chicago.
